UPCOMING EVENTS Tuesday, July 1 at 2pm, The Tollkeeper’s Cottage will be opened to the public. You and friends are invited to attend and observe the designation plaque and a new sign for the park which are to be unveiled. Congratulations to the Community History Project Tuesday, July 1, 10am to 5pm. - Celebrate Canada’s Birthday with a visit to Fort York. The Fort York Guard will perform hourly musket drills and artillery demonstrations, as well as fife and drum music. The Gov. Simcoe Branch of the UEL will also be there. There will be cooking and dance demonstrations. Regular admission applies. 416-392-6907

July 1, 12 to 5pm – Celebrate our country’s Birthday with a journey to the rural community of Willow Dale, circa 1851, at the Gibson House Museum, 5172 Yonge St. Experience a taste of the past with homemade ice cream, children’s activities, old fashioned games on the lawn and samples of nineteenth century cooking from the historic kitchen. Sat. July 5 @ 12:00pm – Heritage Toronto invites you to tour Toronto Harbour on the legendary boat, the Trillium to get to the Gibraltor Lighthouse Plaque Presentation & celebration. Mike Filey will give you a unique one hour tour on the water. This is a special day to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the Gilbrator Point Lighthouse on Toronto Islands. The Trillium will depart the city’s mainland Toronto Island ferry dock’s at the foot of Bay St. at 12:00pm & will arrive at Hanlan’s Point at 1:00 in time for the passengers to make their way to the lighthouse site for the 1:30 ceremony and plaque presentation on the Islands. Refreshments will be served after the ceremony. Sunday, July 26, 1 to 3pm - Mackenzie House invites you to go on a walking tour “In the footsteps of the Black Victorian”. The walk starts at St. Lawrence Market and concludes at Mackenzie House. Discover Black History in Toronto by walking through parts of Old York where African-Canadians carved a community through struggle and triumph. Learn about different Black leaders.
