Thirteen of our member groups will be having displays and will be there to answer any questions about their groups. The Theatre Museum has added five great new interviews to their Legend Library on an online oral history project. http://www’theatremuseumcanada/legendlibrary.asp You can now watch video of the wonderful wide-ranging discussions on theatre that RH Thompson had with: Paul Thompson, Jean-Louis Roux, William Needles, Desmond Heeley, Michael Whitfield and Susan Benson. UPCOMING EVENTS Wed., Feb. 11 at 7:30 The North York Historical Society will be having their AGM and videos of when Leslie Street was undeveloped and meet the current owners of Green Meadow/The McDougald Estate. The meeting is held at the Willowdale United Church, Friendship Room, 349 Kenneth Ave. Wed. Feb 11 at 7pm – The Tollkeeper’s Cottage is having a Lecture Series on 4 consecutive Wednesdays- Tickets $15 per lecture or$50 foor the series. Advance sale only Feb 11- Gary Sault, Mississauga Elder and Storyteller. “Stories of the Past affecting the Future” Feb 18th – Carolyn King, Former New Credit Mississauga Chief, Development Officer “Indians 101: Who are the Aboriginal People in Canada Today?” Feb. 25th –Stacy Laforme, New Credit Mississauga poet “ Being an Indian in a non-indian world” He will have copies of his work forsale March 4 – Margaret Sault, New Credit Historian & Land Claims Expert “The Toronto Purchase Land Claim- An update” Monday, Feb. 16 from 10am to 3pm – Historic Fort York will be holding a special Family Day. Tour the Fort and have a cup of old-fashioned hot chocolate from the historic kitchen. Regular admission Feb. 17 – 22 from 12 to 5pm on the second Floor of the Gladstone Hotel – A photo exhibit of Toronto’s Aging Spaces called “Building Storeys”. This event is a collaborative effort by Heritage Toronto and members of the Toronto’s Shadow Collective. www.heritagetoronto.org Sat. Feb 21 from 10am to 3:00 – Fort York will join with the Culinary Historians of Ontario for a Marmalade workshop, lunch and guest speaker. Also a marmalade marketplace and a tour of the Fort. Thursday, Feb. 26th at 7:30- The Etobicoke Historical Society will be having Al Basian of the Duke Ellington Society showing a video of a CBC documentary, “That Old Black Magic” featuring 10 blacks who set the music world on fire, including Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole and Cab Calloway.
